About Zo Zero

The Faces Behind Zo Zero

A month without plastic turned out to be a life changing challenge. It was nearly impossible to avoid plastic, everything is wrapped in or made from plastic. Pasta, nuts, vegetables, fruits, muesli and even 'cardboard' drink cartons contain plastic. The same goes for non-food products such as razors, cotton buds, toothbrushes and coffee-to-go cups. We are drowning in plastic but can't we turn the tide?

Zo Zero, an online store for #zeroplastic and #zerowaste products, was born from the ambition to reduce the use of single-use plastics and to help others along the way. We believe it should be easy to minimize waste and to avoid disposable plastic.

What Is Our Mission?

Break free from plastic!

What's The Problem?

Researchers estimate that 8.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced since the 1950s. Up until 2015, 6.3 billion tons ended up as waste, of which only 9% was recycled and 12% was incinerated. The remaining 79% ended up in overfilled landfills or in the environment.

Every year, between 5 and 13 million tons of plastic ends up in the sea. It takes almost 400 years for plastic to break down. Marine animals, from plankton to whales, eat plastic, our waste. If we continue like this, 12 billion tons of plastic will end up in landfills and nature by 2050. We will live in a world with more plastic than fish in the sea.

What We Do

Plastic is often used to make disposable items such as plastic bags, drinking bottles and packaging for our food, which end up as waste after one time use.

Zo Zero creates awareness and shows that things can be done differently. Not only by the products we sell, but also by sharing tips and information on our website, through social media or via our newsletter. Zo Zero makes it easier for you to find alternatives to 'single-use' plastic and to reduce your waste consumption.

What Can You Do?

Can one person actually make a difference? This is how we see it: if everyone stops using straws, we could save an average of 1.6 straws per person per day. That's almost 600 straws per person per year. ''If you want to change the world, start with yourself." It may sound cliché but it's a cliche for a reason. Try to avoid single-use plastic products, such as plastic bags and packaging, and shop plastic-free. Zo Zero is here to help!
